M. M. obtains the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) with the technical support of Gesteco

The EPD is a tool for guiding environmental decision-making

M.M. has recently obtained the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for a selection of its pultruded fiberglass structural profiles, following a process carried out with the technical support of Gesteco.

The declaration was prepared in accordance with the EN 15804:2012+A2:2019 standard, which defines the Product Category Rules for construction materials, and complies with ISO 14025:2010, which covers Type III environmental declarations.

The study was based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) encompassing all phases from raw material supply to end-of-life.

The EPD was independently verified in accordance with Accredia accreditation requirements and is now available in the international EPD International database.

A concrete achievement that supports informed environmental and market decisions

Through an EPD, a company can demonstrate the environmental performance of its products in a structured and verifiable way, facilitating access to business opportunities that require certified data.

More and more often - especially in the construction sector and public procurement - EPDs are not only a distinguishing feature but a true requirement for participating in tenders

In several European countries, such as France, Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands, they are already mandatory documentation for submitting bids

In Italy as well, EPDs are increasingly recognized as either rewarding or mandatory criteria within tender specifications that adopt Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM).

Having an EPD therefore means being ready to enter more demanding markets, qualify one’s offering, and credibly meet the expectations of clients and designers who work according to structured environmental standards.

Gesteco’s technical support in obtaining the EPD

In the work carried out with M.M., Gesteco managed the entire process, from data collection and analysis to environmental modelling, and finally to the preparation and publication of the declaration.By combining technical expertise with an in-depth understanding of industrial dynamics, we turn data and regulatory requirements into practical tools that support companies in making informed environmental and strategic decisions.

Sustainability: from environmental metrics to verified communication

For Gesteco, sustainability is a practice that begins with analysis and translates into operational choices. Tools such as LCA (Life Cycle Assessment), EPD (Environmental Product Declaration), and carbon footprint provide an objective foundation for building not only internal improvement pathways, but also more accurate, verifiable environmental communication—essential for standing out in the market.

Sustainability communication matters, but only when it is the outcome of a structured, transparent, and independently verified process

And that’s exactly what we are committed to making possible.
