The sludge taken from the Valentinis canal comes back to life in the construction industry through Gesteco

Thanks to the non-hazardous waste recovery and disposal plant

In detail

The dredged materials in the Valentinis canal in San Pier D'Isonzo - Monfalcone (GO) - will be destined to have a second life, probably in the construction field, thanks to the treatment carried out at the Gesteco plant in Monfalcone (Non-hazardous waste disposal and recovery plant).

This reflects the desire to give a second life to waste products, recreating a new production cycle. This modus operandi has been accompanying many activities of Gesteco for some time now, always carried out with a circular perspective.

This is what doing sustainability concretely means.

The recovery process

The words of the manager of the plant, Emanuela Luzi

“The material, already subjected to upstream checks, arrives at our plant to be loaded into a hopper that carries out the first size separation. Subsequently, it is taken to a sludge remover and then to the washing. The treatment aims to eliminate the presence of metals and contaminants of organic nature. Materials different from those coming from dredging are instead treated to be stabilized and sent for disposal.”
